A day in the life of Katelyn

So as luck would have it, it appears that Ron and I were blessed with an over active child. Anyone who plays with her have all used the same name "wiggle worm". For only being 11 weeks old our daughter is way more active then other babies her age from what we are told. This may cause other moms to want to pull their hair out, but I find it a lot of fun. The best solution so far is setting up different "stations" so she doesn't become bored during the day. So here is a glimpse into a day in the life of Katelyn.

      Katelyn always starts her day off as a very happy baby. She smiles and coos all day long.....it melts me.

She has done really well adjusting to a schedule to make life on all of us easier. She wakes up in the morning, she eats for 30 min, plays for 1 1/2 hours and sleeps for an hour....and repeat.

 The first station usually consists of her chillin' in her chair for awhile. Meredith was sweet enough to buy this for Katelyn and she LOVES it.

Hmmm..which toy should I play with first?

                    The second station is her ocean play mat. The octopus is her favorite on this one.

                          I need to practice saying "no" now because with a face like that how can I?

 The third station is her tummy time mat. She is doing so great at lifting her head up and keeping it there.

If that's not a face of having fun I don't know what is.

My favorite time of day is when we both lay on the couch together to do a little snuggle time before bed. She is so much fun now since she is starting to be able to play with her toys.

I just got Katelyn's new photos that Cheryl took when she turned 2 months old. These pictures are fabulous! I will forever cherish these and will be excited to show them to her when she becomes older and has children of her own....whoa I'm getting way ahead of myself now!

Poor Cheryl really had her work cut out for her. You wouldn't know it from her pictures, but Katelyn was really fussy with an upset belly during these. Cheryl was so sweet and patient with her and still captured those few seconds when Katelyn would flash us a smile.

This cocoon was supposed to fit around her, but Katelyn just kept making a game of it by using her toes to pull it down. I think it was her favorite part of the day.

                     This is Katelyn's 2 month old photo with her flower...I can't wait for month three!

                                            It's a bird..... it's a plane......no, it's.. SUPER BABY!

First Shots

Friday Sept. 10th was Katelyn's doctor visit and she received her first set of shots. Daddy had to hold our little pumpkin down to help the nurse while mommy stood in the corner and cried. Katelyn was so brave and only cried for a minute. The first immunization was oral, then two shots in her left leg and one shot in her right. Unfortunately, that was only the beginning. By night time she was running a low grade fever and didn't feel well. She ran a fever for three days and did nothing but sleep. Finally on Monday the fever broke and of course she is making up for lost time because mommy hasn't had a break all day due to a very rested baby. I'm very glad to have my happy healthy baby back to normal though.

2 Months Old

Today is Katelyn's 2 month birthday. The time is passing by so fast I can barely stand it. I feel like I am taking pictures of her everyday because I know I have to capture this time before it's gone.She has already changed so much from the tiny baby I brought home such a short time ago. These pictures were taken just last week by Cheryl and she looks like she has doubled in size. I wish we could freeze time and keep them this small for longer. I always hear parents say, "I can't wait until they can walk, I can't wait until their first words, I can't wait until they are old enough to move out"...lol. But I haven't found myself saying any of those things, I'm just trying to love every minute of what I have now. What a blessing a child is.....

Random memories # 1

These are photos of our wedding reception at Marineland. We reserved the whole park so everyone could go to the dolphin tanks to watch them swim. Then the party began under the large tent they have. These pictures make it look absolutely beautiful. To top it off, we were crazy and did it all ourselves. Ron cooked all the food, my friend Cecilia helped me with the layout and decorations, and some of our friends and family showed up early to help us set it all up.

Katelyn's first daddy visit

Yesterday was a "first" in more ways than one. It was Ron's first day back to work since Katelyn was born. It was also the first time Katelyn went to the fire staton to visit her daddy while he was at work. She was happy to seem him and was probably wondering where he had been all day.

Keys trip 2010

We just got home from our Keys trip 2010. This was Katelyn's first year and she seemed to have a blast. I'm so glad I decided to take her there instead of staying home so we can say she never missed a year in the Keys. She got to spend everyday with her Grandma McCauley so mommy and daddy could hit the water in search of lobster. This year was a great lobster year and our freezer is proof of it. We also got some priceless photos taken of Katelyn.

                                     First we started off by teaching Katelyn the tools of the trade.

                                            Then we showed her how to measure the big ones.

                                  And of course she learned all the nautical rules of the waterway.

               And this was the face daddy got when she was told she wasn't old enough to drive the boat yet.

We had a great time, but we are glad to be back home. We are looking forward to next years trip when Katelyn will be a year older.
